Trading responsibly
Understanding leverage risk
Leverage lets you control a position larger than the money you commit. That amplification cuts both ways: gains and losses move together, and a small market move can wipe out your margin far faster than expected. With contracts for difference, losses can exceed your initial deposit, so you may owe more than you put in. Treat that possibility as real, not theoretical.
Trade only what you can afford to lose
Use money whose loss would not affect your essential spending, savings or obligations. Never fund a trading account with borrowed money or funds set aside for other purposes. The broker may offer safeguards, but they do not remove market risk.
Set limits before you trade
- Decide your maximum loss per position and per session in advance.
- Use stop-loss orders and keep position sizes small relative to your balance.
- Review your activity regularly and pause when results turn against you.
- Ignore anyone promising profit; no outcome is guaranteed.
Know what you are trading
Shares listed on the Pakistan Stock Exchange are not CFDs. Owning shares differs from holding a leveraged derivative, so confirm the instrument before you act.
